Mission

The Journal of Contemporary Dental Practice is an online, open access journal designed to present novel healthcare information to its readers using a variety of multimedia technologies.

The mission of the journal is to provide a quality, peer-reviewed, forum for visionary professionals interested in oral health to contribute innovative findings to the dental literature.

The guiding principle of the journal is to lead general practicing professionals and dental team members to new thinking for the twenty-first century based on scientific evidence and sound principles in an effort to foster prevention of oral disease and improve oral health worldwide.

Manuscripts submitted to this journal are extensively reviewed by the editorial staff and anonymously reviewed by volunteer experts in dental subjects related to the content of submitted articles.  This independent review is designed to ensure the accuracy of the content and is either evidence-based or based on sound clinical observation, professional experience, and documentation.

Goal

The goal is to forge a contemporary online journal designed to offer the reader mechanisms that stimulate a self-determined level of inquiry, facilitate convenient access to related literature, provide innovative presentation alternatives and direct communication with contributing scientists and other authors.

Journal Information

The Journal of Contemporary Dental Practice is an online journal that utilizes a variety of Internet technologies to convey information to its readership that are not possible with printed journals.In order to take advantage of these technologies, the submission requirements may differ from traditional journals.For example, some articles would be enhanced if the reader could view animations, video clips, or listen to short audio recordings. In such cases, the author will be required to supply such files along with the text and graphics for an article.

Readers will be able to either download or print articles in the Journal of Contemporary Dental Practice using Acrobat Reader and the portable data format (PDF) which will provide a printout which has the appearance of a printed article in a traditional journal.

The Journal of Contemporary Dental Practice (ISSN 1526-3711) is published quarterly by the Procter & Gamble Company as a public service to dental professionals. The content of the journal is submitted for peer-review to an independent panel of experts who have significant expertise in the subject of a submitted manuscript. Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts to the editor using the directions described under "Manuscripts."
