Denture Debris
The fungal organisms that are most commonly associated with denture plaque are of the genus Candida. These yeasts are present in the saliva of a majority of denture wearers and display an affinity for adherence to methacrylate resin.13 They are particularly effective at populating the "craters" formed by an intersection of a monomer bubble with the polished surface of the acrylic resin from which they are difficult to eradicate.13
