Dr. Forrest is the Director of the National Center for Dental Hygiene Research at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, Los Angeles, CA.  Under Dr.  Forrest's leadership, the National Center and the DHNet website [http://www.usc.edu/dhnet] were established, and with her current grant on “Integrating an Evidence-Based Decision Making Approach into Health Curricula,” a Faculty Development Institute program was implemented along with a new website, Evidence Based News, http://www.usc.edu/ebnet

Dr. Forrest is active in several national and international associations and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Evidence-Based Dental Practice.  She has published and presented in the areas of caries and oral cancer prevention knowledge and practices, quality assurance, electronic communications technology, evidence-based practice, and the need for a research infrastructure to support clinical practice.  Dr.  Forrest has received several awards and is the current recipient of the ADEA/Colgate Allied Dental Educator's Fellowship.

Syrene Miller is the Project Manager for the National Center for Dental Hygiene Research at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry. She is involved in creating and maintaining the Website, Evidence-Based News and in developing curriculum materials for Faculty Development Institutes that teach health professionals and educators how to integrate an evidence-based approach.  Syrene also serves as a lead faculty member in the Institute.

Ms.  Miller has presented at national and international dental, dental hygiene, and allied health conferences on integrating an Evidence Based approach into education, practice and research, and on enhancing dental practice and classroom presentations through the use of Internet technology and PowerPoint.  Syrene is the co-author with Jane Forrest on “An Evidence-Based Approach in Dental Hygiene Practice, Education, and Research,” a white paper for the American Dental Hygienists' Association.  She also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Evidence-Based Dental Practice.
